Brandon Blackstock Remembered: A Quiet Force Behind Country Music’s Biggest Names

The country music community lost one of its most quietly influential figures this week with the passing of Brandon Blackstock at the age of 48, following a private three-year battle with cancer.

Though most headlines will remember him as Kelly Clarkson’s ex-husband or Reba McEntire’s former stepson, those closest to the music industry know Brandon as something much more—an artist manager who shaped the careers of some of country’s most visible stars. As a key figure at Starstruck Entertainment, Blackstock helped steer the success of acts like Blake Shelton, Rascal Flatts, Carly Pearce, and others, offering the kind of behind-the-scenes guidance that rarely makes front-page news but often makes careers.
