Guitariste de formation, Kadjo a comme beaucoup, découvert le banjo par le cinéma. Mais c’est le magnifique film d’ Arthur Penn, Bonnie & Clyde, de 1967, qui lui a fait découvrir le bluegrass et cet instrument jubilatoire, et non comme souvent cité, le film Délivrance de John Boorman, qui fut néanmoins la confirmation de sa passion.
Fort de son amour du blues, du rock et du bluegrass, il a développé sa musique autour de cet instrument, ses compos mélant tous ces genres, et son banjo servant de passerelle.
Après de nombreuses recherches, il a réussi à trouver un moyen de jouer du banjo sur un ampli avec distorsion, afin de suivre en intensité ses compères musiciens, qui à la batterie, à la basse, et à la guitare électrique avaient tendance à être beaucoup plus fort que lui.
Plusieurs cellules (un fishman pour le grain, et un humbucker pour la puissance) ont été installées dans des endroits stratégiques de son Banjo « Quincampoix ».

Festival Bluegrass et Old Time d’Al Ras

L’excellent banjoïste catalan Lluis Gomez vient de sortir un livre de banjo regroupant un très grand nombre morceaux de banjo, traditionnels ou compositions de banjoïstes célèbres. Cet ouvrage a été élaboré par Lluis au fil des années, c’était au départ un recueil personnel où il retranscrivait tous les morceaux sur lesquels il travaillait et qu’il utilise pour animer ses stages. De nombreux stagiaires ont manifesté le désir de l’acheter, alors Lluis répondait qu’il n’était pas à vendre, et que les pages n’étaient d’ailleurs pas numérotées. Mais devant l’intérêt des apprentis banjoïstes, il a décidé de le mettre en vente, et le voilà ! Ce livre n’est pas donc une méthode pédagogique mais un recueil de tablatures de morceaux (sans numéro de pages, reprécise Lluis…). Ceux-ci sont classés par rubriques : le style Scruggs, les plans de Scruggs, les fiddle tunes, le single string, adaptations de morceaux de Russ Barenberg, le style et les plans de Bill Keith, le style et les plans de Tony Trischka, le style et les plans de Béla Fleck, la musique irlandaise, les techniques modernes.
