Virtuose du banjo 5 cordes et compositeur, Guy Donis fait ses premiers pas sur scène en Belgique (son pays d’origine) en 1985. A cette époque, il tourne partout en Europe avec ses deux principaux groupes Gold Rush (Bluegrass/Newgrass) et Badiane (musique du monde/New acoustic Music).
Dans les années 2000, il s’installe à Montréal, où de nombreux artistes québécois lui demandent de collaborer avec eux sur scène et en studio. Également joueur accompli de mandoline et de dobro, il a participé depuis son arrivée au Canada à des dizaines d’albums. On peut entendre ses compositions sur les radios canadiennes ainsi que dans des spectacles de danse, à la télévision et au cinéma.
Actuellement il tourne principalement avec le groupe de bluegrass Notre Dame de Grass et avec son projet solo Paroles D’arbre.
Il a été souvent référencé parmi les meilleurs banjoïstes internationaux, notamment sur deux compilations sur le banjo: Banjo Influences (France) et Magic Banjo (Allemagne) ainsi que dans l’ouvrage Le Banjo pour les Nuls.

La MJC de Ris-Orangis organise un workshop et un concert exceptionnels avec le célèbre banjoïste américain Tony Trischka. Action Banjo et la MJC s’étaient déjà associés en 2010 pour accueillir ce Grand Monsieur du Banjo et rêvaient de réitérer cette merveilleuse expérience. C’est chose faite! Tony sera à la MJC le 20 février 2015. La MJC fera bénéficier les adhérents d’Action Banjo du tarif réduit, aussi bien pour le workshop que pour le concert.

Dans le monde international du banjo 5 cordes, Tony Trischka est considéré comme une figure de proue. Depuis les années 70, il n’a cessé d’innover et de faire progresser la technique et la musique du banjo, ouvrant ainsi la porte à de nouvelles générations. Il a été notamment le professeur du célébrissime banjoïste Béla Fleck. Il a produit une discographie importante.
En 2008, il a réalisé l’album Territory pour Smithsonian Folkways qui a remporté l’award du meilleur album aux « Independent Music Awards ».
En 2012, il a été primé par USA FELLOWS, qui récompense chaque année 50 artistes américains qui se sont particulièrement distingués dans leur domaine artistique.
En 2014, il a sorti Great Big World , son 17e album solo, auquel de nombreux invités prestigieux ont participé (tels que Russ Barenberg, Noam Pikelny, Ramblin’ Jack Elliott, John Goodman et Steve Martin).
Il est l’auteur de plusieurs méthodes qui figurent parmi les « bestsellers » du genre. Il a fondé « The Tony Trischka School of Banjo », site internet dédié à ses cours de banjo.
