Georges Hamel†, emporté par un cancer de la moelle osseuse, s’est éteint le 26 février 2014, à l’âge de 66 ans. Malgré les souffrances que l’on imagine, Georges acceptait encore des entretiens à quelques jours de sa mort afin de parler de son dernier album Une Fleur pour Vous.

Georges Hamel y interprète merveilleusement de grands succès en duo avec Renée Martel, Laurence Jalbert, Annie Blanchard, Brigitte Boisjoli, Marie Denise Pelletier, Paolo Noël, Pierre Arseno, Cayouche, Julie Daraîche, Amélie Hall, Marie-Chantal Cartier, Chantal Cliche et Michel Louvain.

Originaire de Sainte-Françoise-de-Lotbinière, dans le Centre-du-Québec, George Hamel a été élevé au sein d’une famille de cultivateurs comptant 18 enfants.

Natif de Sainte-Françoise-de-Lotbinière, Georges Hamel laisse 44 albums en 40 années. Georges Hamel a remporté quatre Prix Félix.

Les funérailles du chanteur et musicien Georges Hamel ont été célébrées samedi 1er mars 2014, après-midi en l’église Saint-Frédéric à Drummondville.
