Nous profitons de la sortie du nouveau disque du groupe Uli’s New Orléans Jazz Band pour rappeler l’excellence d’Eric au banjo 4 cordes.
L’Uli’s New Orléans Jazz Band est une formation germano-franco-anglo-suisse, qui s’est spécialisée dans le vieux jazz de la Nouvelle Orléans, depuis plus de 30 ans.
Elle est composée de: Uli Winterhager Batterie Eric Cousin Banjo, Guitare, vocal Martin Hess Contrebasse Robert Merian Clarinette, Saxophones John Service Trombone, vocal.
On peut les entendre en concert de 20h à 22h, tous les troisièmes mercredis de chaque mois, sauf en août, à Freiburg en Allemagne à l’Hôtel Restaurant Schwarzwalder Hof (Herrenstraße 43, 79098 Freiburg im Breisgau, Allemagne). Leur nouveau CD a été enregistré en live le 21 Juin 2017 dans cet hôtel. C’est du jazz Nouvelle Orléans de très grande qualité, à écouter sans modération.

La formation se produit également, en concert, fêtes diverses, (privées ou entreprises) festivals etc.

Lluis Gomez participe en ce moment à un spectacle mêlant théâtre et musique old time. Voici son témoignage.
« Actuellement, je joue du banjo au Théâtre National de Catalogne (TNC-Teatre Nacional de Catalunya), dans la pièce Desire Under The Elms (Desig sota els oms), écrite par Eugene O’Neill, dirigée par la très célèbre Joan Ollé et interprétée par les acteurs Laura Conejero, Pep Cruz et Ivan Benet. L’action se déroule en 1850, le spectacle dure deux heures et je joue pendant la cérémonie de la naissance du bébé, à l’acte 3.
Nous jouons en trio, avec Iban Beltran au violon et El Sueco à la guitare, nous faisons tous de la musique oldtime, et nous chantons et dansons parmi les acteurs.
Travailler avec des acteurs est une expérience incroyable, c’est tellement différent des concerts live. Et c’est aussi amusant de surpasser des handicaps musicaux tels que jouer « Old Joe Clark » and « Devil’s Dream » en la ouvert parce que je ne dois pas utiliser de capo.
Je joue sur deux banjos fabriqués par David Prat, un banjo gourde et un banjo old time.

Elle comporte 90 pages de conseils, d’exercices, d’exemples d’accompagnements sur un répertoire « original » (musiques enfantines) et un CD d’une heure avec toutes les tablatures mises en son et des bandes sonores pour s’accompagner. Conseils à l’usage des débutants comme des joueurs confirmés. Soli et accompagnements à l’attention du joueur avancé.
