Great Big World, le dernier album de Tony Trischka est sorti le 4 février 2014. C’est son 17e album solo, et on y retrouve toute la versatilité et l’inventivité qui caractérisent le talent de Tony. De nombreux invités prestigieux ont participé à ce nouveau projet, telles que les légendes du bluegrass Andy Statman, Russ Barenberg et Mike Compton, ainsi que des valeurs montantes de la nouvelle génération bluegrass comme Noam Pikelny et Abigail Washburn. Mais on y redécouvre aussi le chanteur folk Ramblin’ Jack Elliott, l’acteur John Goodman, et bien sûr son ami acteur et banjoïste Steve Martin.

Action Banjo se réjouit de ce nouvel album et espère vivement pouvoir faire revenir Tony en France pour des concerts et/ou stages. Le prochain stage de musique acoustique de Virton (Belgique) aura lieu du lundi 7 au samedi 12 avril 2014. Ce sera la 29e édition de ce stage, et cette année encore, les organisateurs proposent environ une douzaine d’ateliers. La classe de banjo sera animée par Lluis Gomez.

Lluis Gomez est un excellent professeur et musicien espagnol basé à Barcelone, où il anime avec succès des stages sur le banjo bluegrass et autres styles. Il a publié une méthode de banjo.
Il a enregistré plusieurs albums, en solo ou en groupe.
Depuis plusieurs années, il organise un festival de bluegrass, musiques old-time et celtique, qui a lieu près de Barcelone.
Cette Rencontre Bluegrass avec Pierre Cuny, Jean-Marie Redon, Sharon Lombardi et Hervé Tuel, fût aussi géniale qu’intéressante ; question ambiance et convivialité, l’ambiance bluegrass ne se dément jamais. Merci à la MJC de Ris Orangis et à Action Banjo pour l’accueil et l’organisation.

Nous avons appris beaucoup de choses truffées d’anecdotes et là encore, les questions fusent .. bref c’est culturel et ludique …On ne s’ennuie pas.

Le cinéma Max Linder propose une avant-première d’ALABAMA MONROE (titre original : BROKEN CIRCLE BREAKDOWN), le nouveau film du réalisateur belge Felix Van Groeningen (La Merditude des Choses) . Une histoire d’amour tragique entre un joueur de banjo et une tatoueuse, sur fond de bluegrass. Ce film a remporté un grand succès en Belgique et aux Pays-Bas et il sortira en France le 28.08.2013.
La projection en avant-première aura lieu le lundi 17 juin 2013 à 20:00 et sera suivie du concert du Broken Circle Breakdown Bluegrass Band, le groupe qui joue dans le film et qui en a signé la superbe bande originale. À ne pas manquer!
