Dolly Parton Scores The Biggest Album Debut Sales Week Of Her Career With ‘Rockstar’

Seven decades into her unmatched career, global superstar Dolly Parton lands her biggest album debut ever as the 30-track, star-studded Rockstar collection debuts at #1 on six different Billboard charts.

Dolly Parton Reveals Album Title, Release Date and Track List for Upcoming Rock Album Rockstar

With 127,778 units sold in its inaugural week, Parton’s Rockstar debuts at #1 on Billboard Top Rock Albums, #1 on Billboard Top Rock & Alternative Albums, #1 on Billboard Top Country Albums, #1 on Billboard Top Album Sales, #1 on Billboard Top Current Album Sales, and #1 on Billboard Independent Albums charts. The album also debuted at #2 on Billboard Vinyl Albums and #2 on Billboard Tastemaker Albums charts. Released on Parton’s own Butterfly Records with worldwide distribution via Big Machine Label Group, Rockstar joins Drake’s For All The Dogs – Scary Hours Edition and Taylor Swift’s 1989 (Taylor’s Version) in the overall top 3, marking Parton’s career-best rank on the all-genre list.

Chet Flippo est mort

L’écrivain et journaliste texan Chet Flippo, spécialiste du Rock’n’Roll et surtout de la Country Music, s’est éteint à l’âge de 69 ans.

Chet FlippoNé à Fort Worth, Texas, le 21 octobre 1943, Chet Flippo entre à la Sam Houston State University en 1965. Il a 22 ans. Chet s’engage dans la US Navy lors de la guerre du Vietnam qu’il quittera en 1969.

Devenu pigiste, Chet Flippo rédige des articles pour un quotidien local texan, puis décroche son diplôme de journalisme (1974 Austin Texas University). Chet Flippo est promu au rang de Chef du Bureau de New-York, NY (1974-1977) au célèbre magazine Rolling Stone dont le siège social se situe à San Francisco, CA. Seulement trois années plus tard, le siège s’installe à New-York, Chet en est le Senior Editor. Nous sommes alors en 1980.

Chet Flippo très tôt imprégné de country music s’est investit à transmettre sa passion au public pop et rock, lequel classait le genre au rang d’un passé jugé conservateur voire ringard.

Le 6 décembre 1973, un article sur Waylon Jennings  est signé Chet Flippo ; nous retiendrons cette assertion : « Les jeunes aux cheveux longs aiment aussi la country vous savez… Juste qu’ils ne se sentent pas les bienvenus dans les clubs de rednecks ». Le 13 juillet 1978 Chet Flippo signe ce superbe portrait de Willie Nelson, le décrivant comme l’un des plus grands songwriteurs américains vivants…

Chet est aussi chargé de cours à la Knoxville University of Tennessee de 1991 à 1994.

Il devient le Chef du Bureau de l’incontournable Billboard’s Nashville de 1995 to 2000.

Chet Flippo s’est éteint au matin du mercredi 19 juin 2013, des suites du pneumonie, dans sa 70e année.
