USA (DC) National Park Service - Experience Your America

Site gouvernemental National Park Service. Un réseau de près de 400 parcs naturels (natural parks), à vocation culturelle et récréationnelle à travers la nation américaine. Ce système de gestion - la première au monde - permet de préserver, protéger et partager les legs de ce pays. Par le décrêt du 1er mars 1872, le Congrès donne au Parc de Yellostone, situé dans les territoires du Montana et du Wyoming son statut de Parc Public ou Base de Loisirs au bénéfice de la population. La Fondation du Yellowtone National Park lance le mouvement mondial pour le concept de Parc National. De nos jours, plus de 100 nations protègent quelques 1.200 parcs ou réserves équivalentes.
Le National Park Service a été créé par une loi du Congrès des États-Unis signée par le Président Woodrow Wilson le 25 août 1916.  Les parcs nationaux américains recouvrent 391 régions sur près de 34 millions d’hectares dans tous les États (en dehors du Delaware), ainsi que dans le District of Columbia, les Samoas américaines, les îles de Guam, Porto Rico et les îles Vierges.
Ces régions comportent parcs nationaux, monuments, champs de bataille, parcs militaires, parcs historiques, sites historiques, rives de lacs, zones de loisirs, parcours découvertes sur rivières et sentiers de randonnées, ainsi que la Maison Blanche.

  • Victorian Craft Demonstrations Featured at McLoughlin House Site on Saturday, March 31 - 26-03-2007
    The National Park Service at the McLoughlin House Unit of Fort Vancouver National Historic Site announces the continuation of its popular public program series highlighting and demonstrating Victorian-era ladies' handwork and crafts. The March program will feature Berlin Wool Work. This grandmother of needlepoint was extremely popular in the 1800s, and it was one of the first crafts to make fine needlework available to ordinary people. The program will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2007, from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the McLoughlin House. For more information, click on the link above.

  • Proposed Fee Increase Open for Public Comment - 26-03-2007
    A fee increase is proposed for Fort Vancouver NHS and the public is welcoe to send in comments. The proposed rates would increase from $3 to $5 for an individual 16 or older to visit the reconstructed fort, and $5 to $10 for a family visit. The National Park Service is interested in public comments on the proposed increase. We would like to hear from you by April 30, 2007. Comment forms are available at the Visitor Center and fort site. Comments can be e-mailed directly to the park through the link on the park website at: http://www.nps.gov/fova/planyourvisit/feesandreservations.htm.
