USA (DC) National Park Service - Experience Your America

Site gouvernemental National Park Service. Un réseau de près de 400 parcs naturels (natural parks), à vocation culturelle et récréationnelle à travers la nation américaine. Ce système de gestion - la première au monde - permet de préserver, protéger et partager les legs de ce pays. Par le décrêt du 1er mars 1872, le Congrès donne au Parc de Yellostone, situé dans les territoires du Montana et du Wyoming son statut de Parc Public ou Base de Loisirs au bénéfice de la population. La Fondation du Yellowtone National Park lance le mouvement mondial pour le concept de Parc National. De nos jours, plus de 100 nations protègent quelques 1.200 parcs ou réserves équivalentes.
Le National Park Service a été créé par une loi du Congrès des États-Unis signée par le Président Woodrow Wilson le 25 août 1916Les parcs nationaux américains recouvrent 391 régions sur près de 34 millions d’hectares dans tous les États (en dehors du Delaware), ainsi que dans le District of Columbia, les Samoas américaines, les îles de Guam, Porto Rico et les îles Vierges.
Ces régions comportent parcs nationaux, monuments, champs de bataille, parcs militaires, parcs historiques, sites historiques, rives de lacs, zones de loisirs, parcours découvertes sur rivières et sentiers de randonnées, ainsi que la Maison Blanche.

  • Everglades National Park Providing Free Florida Bay Boating DVD - 30-04-2008
    Everglades National Park has produced a free, 12-minute educational DVD for Florida Bay boaters. The video, produced with funding from the South Florida National Parks Trust provides boating rules and advice from fishing guides and park rangers who?ve navigated the tricky maze of shallow Bay waters for decades.

  • South Florida to Receive $6 million in Centennial Challenge Grants! - 30-04-2008
    The National Park Service (NPS) announced today that south Florida?s National Parks and Preserve will receive $6 million in additional funding for four projects in 2008! Half of this will support a significant restoration project in Everglades National Park and the rest will provide the parks and preserve the ability to increase environmental education, recruit and train volunteers to become citizen scientists, and to support resource protection and restoration efforts.

  • Carl Ross Key In Florida Bay Is Opened For Day Use - 23-04-2008
    Superintendent Dan Kimball announced today that Carl Ross Key will re-open for day-use, from sunrise to sunset. In 2006, Carl Ross Key was re-designated a day-use only area with annual seasonal closures from October 15 to April 15.

  • Earth Day Electronic Field Trip at Everglades - 22-04-2008
    On Tuesday, April 22nd, Everglades National Park will host a live broadcast of an electronic field trip to celebrate Earth Day and National Park Week. School children from around the country will have the opportunity to virtually visit the Everglades while learning about native plants, invasive species, and conservation.


  • April 5 - Junior Ranger Day at Everglades National Park - 01-04-2008
    Everglades National Park is pleased to announce Junior Ranger Day on Saturday, April, 5, 2008. Junior Ranger Day is a special event to highlight youth in parks and the Junior Ranger Program. The Junior Ranger program is a national program designed to involve kids and families while they visit National Park Service sites. Three of South Florida?s National Parks ? Everglades National Park, Biscayne National Park, and Big Cypress National Preserve ? have a joint Junior Ranger program.

  • Feeling the Everglades, the Art of Bill McCreary - 01-04-2008
    The public is invited to an artist?s reception will be held on April 4th, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Coe visitor Center to commemorate the new art exhibit at Everglades National Park. Bill McCreary?s exhibit of inks colored with watercolors runs from April 1st, through April 30th, 2008 at the Coe Visitor?s Center, Main Entrance, Everglades National Park.

  • UPDATE Maps of AIP Preferred Alternative Available on Park Website - 25-03-2008
    Input on the preferred alternative will be accepted through April 28, 2008. Maps detailing the preferred alternative and those presented in January are available on the Everglades National Park website at www.nps.gov/ever. These can be accessed under the AIP quicklinks on the home page.

  • Rangers Enforce No Poaching Regulations in Everglades National Park - 25-03-2008
    Ramsey L. Kelley of Naples pled guilty recently to a single count of taking protected saltwater fish species in the southwest section of Everglades National Park. Kelly illegally harvested four goliath grouper and five undersize, out-of-season snook from the Gopher Creek area.

    Dade Heritage days is a two month celebration of the architectural, environmental and cultural heritage of Miami-Dade County.     Everglades National Park Superintendent Dan Kimball announced today the scheduling of a second public meeting to present and seek comments on the park's preferred alternative for resolution of the Chokoloskee Area of Inadequate Protection (AIP) within Everglades National Park waters surrounding Chokoloskee Island in Collier County.

  • Everglades National Park celebrates Sixtieth Anniversary - 28-01-2008
    Today Superintendent Dan Kimball announced a week long celebration of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of Everglades National Park. On December 6, 1947, President Harry S. Truman traveled to Everglades City, Florida to dedicate Everglades National Park as the first national park set aside for its biologic uniqueness.

    Everglades National Park is pleased to announce the release of the Draft Flamingo Commercial Services Plan / Environmental Assessment (Draft Plan).     Superintendent Dan Kimball has announced the results of the Everglades National Park annual Cape Sable Seaside Sparrow survey. The 2007 overall population estimate for this endangered bird showed a small increase over 2006 numbers.



  • Everglades National Park Centennial Proposals Eligible for Matching Funds - 05-09-2007
    Everglades National Park?s efforts to remove invasive exotic vegetation from park lands, restore critical crocodile and wading bird habitat on Cape Sable, and increase emphasis on educating underserved students in South Florida are 3 of 201 proposals National Park Service Director Mary Bomar and Secretary of the Interior Dirk Kempthorne recently announced at a press conference in Yosemite National Park to celebrate the 91st anniversary of the NPS.


  • Everglades Enhances Outreach Through Two New Web Features - 06-07-2007

"We have enhanced our internet capabilities and are expanding outreach to our visitors and the general public through two new features on our website", announced Superintendent Dan Kimball. Both a downloadable audio tour and a live newsfeed are now available to the public.


  • Secretary Kempthorne Welcomes World Heritage Committee's Decision - 26-06-2007
    Secretary of the Interior Dirk Kempthorne welcomed the unanimous decision made yesterday by the World Heritage Committee at a meeting in Christchurch, New Zealand, to remove Everglades National Park from the World Heritage in Danger List in recognition of the progress the United States has made in addressing key issues that led to the listing of the park in 1993.





  • Everglades National Park to Allow Summer Generator Use at Flamingo Campgrounds - 29-05-2007
    Superintendent Dan Kimball announced today that Everglades National Park will implement an interim program to allow generator use at selected camping sites in the Flamingo district of the park. Starting Saturday, May 26, 2007 until Monday, October 1, 2007, Everglades National Park will allow RV's to run generators uninterrupted in portions of "C" loop in the Flamingo campground area of the park.
