USA (DC) National Park Service - Experience Your America

Site gouvernemental National Park Service. Un réseau de près de 400 parcs naturels (natural parks), à vocation culturelle et récréationnelle à travers la nation américaine. Ce système de gestion - la première au monde - permet de préserver, protéger et partager les legs de ce pays. Par le décrêt du 1er mars 1872, le Congrès donne au Parc de Yellostone, situé dans les territoires du Montana et du Wyoming son statut de Parc Public ou Base de Loisirs au bénéfice de la population. La Fondation du Yellowtone National Park lance le mouvement mondial pour le concept de Parc National. De nos jours, plus de 100 nations protègent quelques 1.200 parcs ou réserves équivalentes.
Le National Park Service a été créé par une loi du Congrès des États-Unis signée par le Président Woodrow Wilson le 25 août 1916Les parcs nationaux américains recouvrent 391 régions sur près de 34 millions d’hectares dans tous les États (en dehors du Delaware), ainsi que dans le District of Columbia, les Samoas américaines, les îles de Guam, Porto Rico et les îles Vierges.
Ces régions comportent parcs nationaux, monuments, champs de bataille, parcs militaires, parcs historiques, sites historiques, rives de lacs, zones de loisirs, parcours découvertes sur rivières et sentiers de randonnées, ainsi que la Maison Blanche.

    Each year March brings many things to Big Bend National Park: wildflowers, cactus blooms, mild temperatures, and spring break visitors. The busiest Spring Break timeframe this year will likely be March 8 - 22, when many of the Texas public schools and universities are on vacation; the following week will also see increased visitation from other regions.

    Each year, park visitors bring in things that they think are important and want to "show a ranger" what they found. Each year, some well-intentioned visitor will "clean up a trash pile" and deposit it on our doorstep. The question continues to arise whether or not piles of rusty tin cans and broken bottles are important artifacts.
















  • News Release: Big Bend National Park Seeks Public Comment on Proposed New Dorgan-Sublett Trail - 28-11-2007
    The National Park Service proposes to construct a ½-mile walking trail for visitor access to the Dorgan and Sublett historic sites near the Rio Grande River between Castolon and Santa Elena Canyon in Big Bend National Park. The trail would provide interpretation of the Rancho Estelle Historic District, which is important to communicating Park farming and ranching history.











  • Updated Content: Planning for a Peak Period visit - 26-10-2007
    Big Bend's "busy" season is generally from November through April. However, the park is often full to capacity for six weeks each year: Thanksgiving week, Christmas/New Years, and the Spring Break season during the middle weeks of March. These extra-busy periods can often be frustrating to visitors, as lodging and camping both in the park and outside of it are often fully booked. In order to maximize your visit, it is best to plan ahead and have alternatives. The information on this page is intended to help you plan ahead for a trip to Big Bend at one of these busy times.
